UNLEASH: 48HR FILM CHALLENGE

Are you ready to unleash your creativity?

The Unleash: 48HR Film Challenge is a fast-paced, high-energy filmmaking competition designed to amplify and celebrate Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (HOH) storytellers. Teams have exactly 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a 4-to-7 minute short film based on a surprise theme and prompt.

Whether you are an emerging filmmaker or a seasoned creator, this challenge is your platform to showcase your cinematic talent, push your limits, and get your work seen by the community.

The Rules at a Glance

To keep the competition fair and impactful, all teams must adhere to the following core guidelines:
  • Deaf/HOH Leadership: Teams must be led by a Deaf/HOH artist, and the majority of the crew must identify as Deaf/HOH (e.g., if you have a team of 6, at least 4 members must be Deaf/HOH).
  • Team Capacity: Groups can have a maximum of 10 members.
  • Pure Creativity: All writing, filming, and editing must take place strictly within the 48-hour window. No creative preparation is allowed beforehand.
  • Volunteer Cast & Crew: All participants, actors, and crew members must be volunteers.
  • No AI Generation: Generative AI tools are strictly prohibited for creating any part of the script, visuals, or audio.
  • Time Constraints: Finished films must have a running time between 4 and 7 minutes.
